Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) and Universal Transitional Kindergarten Collaborative Classrooms (UTK CC)

The Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) program is a high-quality, early learning option for children who will have their fourth birthday on/by September 1 of the school year. This program presents the valuable opportunity to provide children with foundational language, literacy, and math skills taught by a credentialed teacher to prepare children for success in school, offer additional early learning choices to families, and narrow the readiness gap. The Universal Transitional Kindergarten program is a 180 school day program following the same time schedule as kindergarten and elementary school classrooms. The class size is limited to 24 children per classroom and taught by one credentialed teacher with the support of one instructional aide.

The UTK Collaborative Classrooms (UTK CC) classrooms is staffed with a general education teacher, an additional adult, an early childhood special education teacher, and a special education aide.

Preschool for All Learners (PAL) Special Day Program

The PAL Special Day Program serves 10 preschool age children who are eligible for special education services due to moderate to severe needs. The staff includes an early childhood special education teacher and two special education trainees/assistants. The class meets Monday through Friday for 4.5 hours daily.The content of the program is based on the District adopted preschool curriculum and stresses the facilitation of goals and objectives through developmentally appropriate concrete experiences and play. The program includes opportunities for interaction with typical preschool and kindergarten peers served in programs on the same school campus. Speech/Language and Adapted Physical Education services are embedded through the daily classroom routines and instructions.

Preschool Comprehensive Program (PSC) Special Day Program

The PSC is a full day Special Day Program serving 8 preschool age children who are eligible for special education services due to severe needs. The staff includes an early childhood special education teacher, a special education trainee/assistant, a speech language pathology assistant (SLP-A), and a behavior intervention assistant.The content of the program is based on the District adopted preschool curriculum and stresses the facilitation of goals and objectives targeting "learning to learn" skills such as joint attention, imitation, and turn taking.
